Funding

Wicklow County Council makes arts funding available annually through specific award schemes listed below for artists and art groups. Funding for 2009 is now closed. Funding for 2010 will have a March closing date with similar categories listed below. For sample forms see downloads in each award category on this page.

Award Schemes Offered for 2009:

• Individual Artists’ Bursary Scheme – 5 Awards at with total fund value of €9,000
• Artists’ Project/Education Award – Total Award fund of €3,000
• Arts Groups/Organisations – Total fund valued at €9,000
• Arts Festival Funding – (this funding applies to existing Arts Festivals only) €11,000

Professional practicing artists from or resident in County Wicklow working in any artform, discipline or genre, are eligible to apply for the Individual Artist Award. The focus of this award is to assist artists in all stages of their careers in the development of their art practice. While arts groups can avail of the Arts Groups/Organisation fund to help support them in the creation of a new project/work. As always Wicklow County Council is committed to supporting the local Arts Festivals, that feature throughout the county and enhance local communities, through it’s Festival Funding.

A selection panel, which will have representatives from Wicklow County Council and two external practitioners/arts managers, will assess applications. The panel decisions will be then placed before the elected members of Wicklow County Council at their March Council meeting.
