Arts - Introduction

The Wicklow County Council Arts Office was established in 1997 in order to foster, stimulate and promote an interest in, awareness and appreciation of the arts in County Wicklow, to facilitate arts policy and development and to act as a liaison between the arts community and the Local Authority. County Wicklow has a rich artistic and cultural tradition, with a range of vibrant activities taking place in the visual arts, music, theatre, literature, sculpture, youth arts, community arts and festivals. The role of the Wicklow County Council Arts Office is to nurture and develop this rich tradition and to ensure that the arts are made accessible to all in our county. The services of the Arts Office include consultation with groups, coordination of projects, administration of projects, sponsorship of groups and information dissemination.
