County Wicklow Arts Strategy 2008 - 2012
County Wicklow Arts Strategy - 3mb
Wicklow Local Authorities Strategy for the development of its arts service will fall into five key areas of focus outlined in detail through the course of this document. This is the third plan for the arts to be published by Wicklow County Council, and reflects a shift in the development of policy areas and programmes. The Arts Office will continue to provide and develop various points of access to the arts for artists, organisations, and audiences through the support and development of key areas, but will move more towards the development of service provision.
Much has been achieved in the county in reinforcing the benefits and the merits of arts practice and participation, we have a good framework of belief in the value of the arts, which are now recognised as a key player in cultural provision alongside sports and heritage for example.
During the four year period of this Strategy, the scope of the work and the measures outlined aim to build capacity, sustained engagement and fruitful partnerships. The Strategy will form an initial shift from direct programming provision to longer-term strategic development, aiming to increase its capacity in the roles of advocacy, leadership, multi and cross-organisational support and advice.
The Strategy aims to develop capacity for the arts both internally, within Wicklow County Council and externally with key stakeholders, and to continue to elevate the status of arts within the county.
