WEEE and the Retailer
Retailers of electrical and electronic products will be affected by new EU legislation
on waste electrical and electronic equipment which will come into effect in Ireland
from 13 August 2005. The Department of Environment, Heritage and Local
Government will shortly be finalising regulations implementing the European
Directive on waste from electrical and electronic equipment. While the
WEEE Directive is based largely on the principle of producer responsibility; the
regulations include specific provisions relating to retailers
