Bray Fire Station & Training Centre
A fire service training centre is located at Bray Fire Station. Training is
carried out both for Wicklow Fire Service Personnel and also for Firefighters
from other counties. The training centre is also rented out to groups from
private industry and also to other Fire Authorities.
The training centre has a lecture room, a 2 storey breathing apparatus training
building, which allows for firefighting training to take place and fire
behaviour containers to show firefighters how to tackle scenarios such as
backdraughts and flashovers. For standard drills there is a large drill yard
with a training tower for pitching ladders.
The following training courses were organised by Wicklow Fire Service in 2006:
- 2 Recruit Courses (each of 2 weeks duration )
- 1 Breathing Apparatus Course for qualified Recruits (2 weeks each)
- 7 one-day Breathing Apparatus Refresher Courses for serving Firefighters
- 1 First Responder recertification Course (3 days duration)
- 2 Fire Behaviour Training Courses (2 days each)
- 1 Courtroom Procedures course for Junior Officers (1 day)
