Pay Parking in Greystones

Introduction

Pay Parking commenced in Greystones on Tuesday 5th August 2008.

Parking Control in the Town Centre will increase the supply of short term parking and reduce the problems caused with illegal / inappropriate parking.

The Park and Ride facility on Mill Road, which has 462 spaces, will continue to operate free of charge for commuters and those who do not wish to pay to park.

Scheme Operation

The scheme will operate Monday to Saturday from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, except in the Blue and Purple Zones which only operate Monday to Friday.

The charge is €1 per hour with a minimum payment of 10 cent for 6 minutes. A maximum charge of €3 applies in the all day parking zone.

The duration of parking permitted is determined by the relevant Zone:
Red Zone and Brown Zone (Central area) – 2 hours maximum
Green Zone and Pink Zone (Outer areas) – 4 hours maximum
Blue Zone and Purple Zone (Marine Road and Car Parks) – All Day Parking

Fines will be issued for all parking offences. Fines can be paid online at www.paymyfine.apcoa.ie, by phone (1890 252 799) or by post (Wicklow County Council, P.O. Box 9943, Lucan, Co. Dublin). Full payment instructions are on the back of issued tickets. Payment for fines cannot be accepted at the Wicklow County Council’s Greystones Office.

After 28 days from the date of issue the fine will increase by 50%. If the fine is not paid within 56 days then it automatically escalates to legal proceedings, after which point no payment can be accepted.

APCOA have been awarded the contract to operate all aspects of the scheme on behalf of Wicklow County Council. This includes the provision of traffic warden services, issuing and collection of fines, review of appeals and the administration of permits.

APCOA operate a number of similar schemes in the Greater Dublin Region including Arklow Town.

Permits and Application Forms

Residents Parking Permits

Residential Permits are available on the following roads:
Bowe Lane, Church Road, Eden Road, Hillside Road, Killincarrick Road, Kimberly Road, La Touche Close, La Touche Road, Marine Terrace, Trafalgar Road, Burnaby Road and Sidmonton Place.

One permit per car per annum is permitted, with a maximum of four permits per dwelling. The charge per permit is €30 per annum. Applications for permits are made to the scheme operator on a standard application form. Evidence will be required to show that the applicant is the registered owner of the vehicle and that the applicant lives at the address.

Commercial Parking Permits

Only Business Premises located on the following roads qualify for permits: Church Road (north of La Touche Place), La Touche Place, La Touche Road, La Touche Close, Eden Road, Kimberley Road, Trafalgar Road, Marine Terrace, Marine Road, Kimberley Lane and Sidmonton Place.

A maximum of 50 Commercial Parking Permits are available per annum, at a cost of €200 each. The permits will be allocated on a first come first served basis with a maximum of 2 permits per business allocated.

Applications for permits are made to the scheme operator on a standard application form. Evidence will be required to show that the business exists, that the applicant is employed by the business and is the registered owner of the vehicle.

Visitor Parking Permits

To be eligable for Visitor Permits the applicant must already hold a valid Residential Parking Permit.

Visitor Permits are available on the following roads: Bowe Lane, Church Road, Eden Road, Hillside Road, Killincarrick Road, Kimberly Road, La Touche Close, La Touche Road, Marine Terrace, Trafalgar Road, Burnaby Road and Sidmonton Place.

Each booklet contains 20 discs. An upper limit of 20 booklets per annum is permitted. The charges are as follows €10 per Permit Booklet for Books 1 to 5 inclusive. €20 per Permit Booklet for Books 6 to 10 inclusive. €40 per Permit Booklet for Books exceeding 11. Applications for permits are made to the scheme operator on a standard application form. Evidence will be required to show that the applicant has a valid Residential Permit.

Suspension of Parking Bays

Applications to suspend the use of a Parking Ticket Machine or a Parking Space, in a car park or on a road covered by the scheme, must be made on the relevant application form. Examples of reason for this include placement of a skip, placement of a cherry picker or crane, filming purposes, utilities works and/or opening of access to the public road.
