If you have a disability or if you are an older person, we can give you a grant to adapt or modify your home.
This does not have to be a council home. For example, we can help you install a chair-lift, re-roof your house or modify it to make it easier to move around.

1. Housing Adaptation Grant Scheme for People with a Disability
Under this scheme, a local authority may make a grant to assist in the carrying out of works that are reasonably necessary for the purposes of adapting your house to make it more suitable to meet the needs of a member of the household who is disabled. All applications for grant aid under this scheme will be assessed on the basis of household means. The maximum grant of €30,000, which will cover 95% of the cost of works, will be available to applicants whose gross household income is less than €30,000 per annum, tapering to 30% for applicants with gross household incomes of between €54,001 to €65,000 per annum.
2. Mobility Aids Housing Grant Scheme
Under this scheme, a local authority may make a grant to cover a basic suite of works to address mobility problems, primarily, but not exclusively, associated with ageing. All applications for grant aid under this scheme will be assessed on property owners income and that of their spouse where applicable. The maximum grant of €6,000 to cover 100% of the cost of works will be available to those with gross annual household incomes of up to €30,000.
3.Scheme of Housing Aid for Older People
This scheme is available to assist older people living in poor housing conditions to have necessary repairs or improvements carried out to their houses. All applications for grant aid under this scheme will be assessed on the basis of household means. The maximum grant of €10,500 to cover 100% of the cost of works will be available to those with gross annual household incomes of less than €30,000, tapering to 30% for those with incomes of between €54,001 and €65,000.
