Wicklow County Council Library Service is committed to providing a service based
on the pillars of education, information, recreation and culture. This is
carried out within the framework of Wicklow County Council's Corporate Plan.
A network of 13 branch libraries, positioned strategically throughout the
county, deals with approximately 350,000 visitors throughout the year. Service
is also provided to Avoca IT Centre.
With the help of an annual grant from the Department of Education, the Primary
Schools Library Service operates to primary schools in the county. Assistance
from the Department of Justice, Equality and Law Reform enables a library
service to be provided to Shelton Abbey Prison.
A library service is provided on a monthly basis to nursing homes throughout the
county.
