Every year Wicklow County Council Arts Office participates in the national Culture Night programme, an all-island celebration of arts, heritage and culture, when venues and public spaces throw open their doors to host free late-night entertainment. The Wicklow Culture Night programme is delivered in partnership Department of Culture Heritage and the Gaeltacht and the Creative Ireland Programme. Small grants are available to assist with the organisation of events.
In 2017, for the eighth year running, Wicklow artists, arts and community organisations put on a fabulous, free, fun-filled programme of Culture Night events for local people and visitors of all ages in 33 locations across the county. It took place on Friday 22 September and over 2,400 people participated in music, theatre, visual arts, tours, talks, readings and workshops.
Exciting events took place in Arklow, Aughrim, Avoca, Blessington, Bray, Donard, Greystones, Hollywood, Redcross and Wicklow Town, due to the enthusiasm and hard work of all of the artists and organisers, whose energy and commitment made it possible.
The next Wicklow Culture Night will take place on 21 September 2018. Details will follow closer to the time.
