Music Generation

The Music Generation programme offers high-quality performance music education to children and young people up to the age of 18 in Co. Wicklow.

Music Generation Programme

Music Generation is a National Music Education Programme that transforms the lives of children and young people through access to high-quality performance music education. It is co-funded by U2, The Ireland Funds, The Department of Education and Skills, and Local Music Education Partnerships.

Music Generation Wicklow was set up in 2012 as a partnership between Music Generation, Kildare & Wicklow Education and Training Board, and Wicklow County Council. The initial focus was to establish school-based programmes working in a variety of different ways. Now, five years later, we are happy to see a high rate of participation, with approx 4,000 children and young people engaged in musicianship, vocal and instrumental programmes (both in and out of school settings), masterclasses, and performance opportunities in all music genres. Music Generation programmes are being rolled out across the county by a team of 30 highly skilled professional musicians.

The main office for Music Generation Wicklow can be found in the Kildare and Wicklow Education and Training Board offices in Wicklow.
