About Access & Disability

Information about Wicklow County Council's policy on accessibility and disability, including access to this website.

We are committed to improving the accessibility of our public service centres, libraries, leisure facilities and heritage centres. Our disabled access toilets in Bray are closed out of hours. These toilets are fitted with a universal lock. A limited number of universal keys for disabled toilets are available to purchase directly from Bray Municipal District Offices at a cost of €14.50. In addition, measures have been introduced to enhance customer services through better access to information provided to the public and to improving accessibility in and around our towns and villages.

We are also committed to supporting the employment of people with disabilities and to dealing with any access issues that arise. Through the Disability Implementation Plan, Wicklow Local Authorities are continuously working towards making Co. Wicklow accessible for all.

Access Officer

Wicklow Local Authorities has appointed an access officer in accordance with section 26(2) of the Disability Act 2005. The access officer acts for Wicklow Local Authorities including the Town Councils in Wicklow, Arklow, Bray and Greystones.

The access officer is responsible for providing or arranging for, and co-ordinating assistance and guidance to persons with disabilities accessing services provided by Wicklow Local Authorities.

The access officer also assists the various departments in meeting their requirements under the Disability Act 2005, and in turn therefore making Wicklow Local Authorities and its services "accessible for all".

Accessibility Policy

The vision of Wicklow Local Authorities is one of an inclusive Wicklow society in which people with disabilities have equal rights and opportunities to participate in the social, economic and cultural life of the county. Additionally, Wicklow Local Authorities recognise that the implementation of the Disability Act 2005 will not only make our services and facilities more accessible to people with disabilities but will ensure that Wicklow as a county strives to be universally accessible to everyone.
