Mortgage Arrears Resolution Process (MARP)

Advice on the Mortgage Arrears Resolution Process for people with a council-held mortgage.

If you think you may have difficulty paying your council-held mortgage, or if you are already behind in repayments, we can help you through the MARP (Mortgage Arrears Resolution Process) procedure. The MARP procedure applies to arrears on mortgages on primary residences only and applies in the following cases:

  • A mortgage account where arrears have arisen on the account and remain outstanding 31 days from the date the arrears arose.
  • Where an alternative repayment arrangement put in place breaks down
  • Where the term of an alternative repayment arrangement put in place expires

While we cannot write off loans, part of a loan or arrears, we will work with you to try to come to an alternative repayment arrangement appropriate to your individual circumstances.
