WCC Marine Notice No. 3 of 2021 - Pollution

To all ship owners, shipmasters, agents, fishing vessels, pleasure craft users, harbour users, seafarers and fishery organisations.

                                                                       

Pollution 

 

Wicklow County Council wishes to remind all Harbour Users of their legal responsibility for the correct management and disposal of waste oils resulting from the servicing and maintenance of all marine craft

Oil reception facilities are available free of charge at the following locations;

  • Wicklow Port, North Quay – Waste Oil and Oil Filters
  • The Murrough Recycling Centre – Waste Oil
  • South Quay, Arklow Harbour - Waste Oil and Oil Filters
  • Arklow Recycling Centre, Emoclew Road - Waste Oil

Harbour users are also reminded that reasonable amounts of marine related waste material may be placed in skips located at Arklow Harbour and Wicklow Port.  Harbour Staff are available to assist.  Waste material, such as packaging, unused bait, machinery or parts and oily waste is not to be left on the quays.

Wicklow County Council appeal to all harbour users to use these facilities and to co-operate in ensuring a clean and safe environment for all.

Persons found to be in breach of Harbour Bye-Laws or Environmental Legislation and Regulations in relation to causing pollution may be subject to prosecution, severe financial penalties up to and including imprisonment.
