PUBLIC DISPLAY EVENTS FOR WICKLOW TO GREYSTONES GREENWAY SCHEME ANNOUNCED

The public is invited to have their say on the emerging preferred route corridor for the Wicklow to Greystones Greenway scheme.

In conjunction with Transport Infrastructure Ireland, Wicklow County Council have been progressing the development of the project, which is currently at Options Selection Stage (Phase 2). All stakeholders and interested parties are invited to attend and view information on the scheme at upcoming public display events.

These non-statutory consultation events will also provide an opportunity for feedback and observations to be submitted regarding the process and conclusions reached to date, which may inform the further development of the scheme.

Two public display events will be held as follows: -

Thursday 18th April 2024 from 4pm to 8pm in Greystones Library, Mill Road, Greystones, Co. Wicklow, A63 KN52        

Thursday 25th April 2024 from 4pm to 8pm in Wicklow Library, The Mall, Main Street, Wicklow, County Wicklow, A67 X504

Members of the Project Team will be available to provide guidance and to answer questions.

The public display documents will also be available to view on the project website www.wicklowgreenways.ie  from Tuesday 9th April 2024.

Submissions will be accepted by email to wicklowgreenway@wicklowcoco.ie, via the online feedback form available on the project website www.wicklowgreenways.ie or by post marked as Wicklow to Greystones Greenway Project, addressed to the Senior Executive Officer, Transportation, Infrastructure Delivery and Emergency Services Department, Wicklow County Council, County Buildings, Whitegates, Wicklow Town, A67 FW96. Submissions and observations will only be accepted on or before Tuesday 7th May 2024.

The vision of Wicklow to Greystones Greenway is to create a walking and cycling path of greenway standard between Wicklow Town and Greystones that provides a safe and scenic experience for people of all ages and abilities.

Integrating with and contributing to the existing and planned active travel network of County Wicklow, the greenway will enhance the health and economic opportunities for local communities while preserving and promoting the natural environment.

Cathaoirleach of Wicklow County Council, Cllr Aoife Flynn Kennedy stated: ‘Wicklow County Council values the opinion of the community on this project and welcomes feedback and submissions from the public and interested parties.’

Chief Executive, Emer O’Gorman, added: ‘The knowledge gained from the engagement will be considered by the project team as part of the next stages of the development of the scheme.’
