Wicklow County Council is delighted to announce the launch of the Ready to Build Scheme in Kilcommon, Tinahely Co. Wicklow. The purpose of this scheme is to give options to families and individuals to construct an affordable home in their local area and in doing so enable them to support the local community.

The 5 serviced sites, which are connected to water, wastewater and have road frontage, are available for sale at reduced prices. Three sites are available at a cost of €40,000 per site, with two sites available at a cost of €50,000 per site.

The scheme is open to all applicants in Wicklow and beyond, who meet the criteria outlined below of the Croí Cónaithe Ready to Build Scheme.

• A First Time Buyer (i.e. has not purchased or built a home for themselves) or who qualify under the ‘Fresh Start’ principle.
• A person with a disability or an older person who is moving from their current home which they are selling or have sold and want to live in a town or village setting.
• A person who is moving from their current home which they are selling or have sold and want to live in a town or village setting.

Speaking on the scheme, Cathaoirleach of Wicklow County Council, Cllr. Melanie Corrigan stated, “I welcome this use of Council lands, giving people an opportunity to build their own homes and integrate into the fabric of a vibrant community.”

Emer O’Gorman, Chief Executive of Wicklow County Council, commented, “Wicklow County Council are delighted to be in position to offer these 5 sites for sale, under the Croí Cónaithe scheme, to help in the delivery of affordable housing in County Wicklow.”
