SportAbility Day 2025

Wicklow and Dublin's First-Ever Joint SportAbility Day - A Celebration of All Abilities, All Ages and All Sports and Physical Activities

Under the Active Cities banner, the five Local Sports Partnerships based in Wicklow, South Dublin, Dublin City, Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown, and Fingal are coming together to host Dublin and Wicklow’s first-ever joint SportAbility Day, targeting all abilities, all ages, and all sports and physical activities.

The aim of SportAbility Day 2025 is to promote the inclusion of people with disabilities in sport and physical activity, both locally and nationally. This exciting event will showcase disability sport organisations, National Governing Bodies, and local clubs and organisations that offer inclusive opportunities and adapted sports.

Taking place on Saturday, 6th September 2025 at Sport Ireland’s National Indoor Arena, the day will feature interactive “Come and Try” sessions delivered by National Governing Bodies of Sport, demonstrations, and information stands from clubs and organisations that already provide inclusive activities. Visitors can also stop by the inspiring ‘Meet the Heroes’ Corner to hear from champions across a wide range of sports.

Cathaoirleach of Wicklow County Council, Melanie Corrigan said, SportAbility Day 2025 is about celebrating inclusion and showing that sport truly is for everyone. This collaboration across Dublin and Wicklow highlights the shared commitment we all have to breaking down barriers and creating opportunities for people of all abilities to get involved, be active, and most importantly, enjoy sport.

Emer O’Gorman, Chief Executive of Wicklow County Council added: “This day is about more than just trying a sport – it’s about building confidence, creating connections, and opening doors. We want everyone, regardless of ability, to feel welcome, supported, and inspired to take part in physical activity. Sport has the power to transform lives, and we’re proud to play our part in making it more inclusive.

SportAbility Day 2025 is suitable for people with disabilities, parents, teachers, sports coaches, youth club leaders, students, volunteers, and anyone with an interest in inclusive sport. A sensory quiet hour will take place from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm, and a dedicated sensory area will be available throughout the event. The venue is fully accessible, with ample on-site parking.

Some of the National Governing Bodies attending and providing “Come and Try” sessions include Vision Sport Ireland, Special Olympics, Tennis Ireland, Swim Ireland, Golf Ireland, Basketball Ireland, Paralympics Ireland, and many more.

All ages and abilities welcome!
