Section 38 Road Traffic Act 1994 - Traffic Calming and Pedestrian Safety Scheme at Three Junctions on the R725 in Carnew, Co Wicklow - Non Statutory Public Consultation

Wicklow County Council proposes to undertake construction of traffic calming and pedestrian safety measures at three junctions along the R725 in Carnew, Co Wicklow. These designs have been developed based on best practice and guidance.

Wicklow County Council is responsible for the procurement and implementation of this scheme. 

The proposed scheme will consist of footpath widening, junction tightening, and provision of pedestrian crossings on the R725, L7227, L3390 and R748, drainage, cycle parking facilities, road marking, signage and associated works.

The objective of this scheme is to provide high-quality, safe facilities for pedestrians to walk to local schools, sports facilities and businesses, thus reducing reliance on private vehicles for short journeys.

Drawings are available for inspection on the Consultation Hub on Wicklow County Council’s website https://www.wicklow.ie/Living/ConsultationHub, and on display in Tinahely Area Office, Tinahely, Co. Wicklow Y14 AY19 from Wednesday 22nd October to Friday 7th November 2025.

The Council will consider any submissions or observations made in writing regarding the proposal. Submissions should be lodged with the District Administrator, Baltinglass Municipal District, Civic Offices, Blessington Business Park, Blessington, Co. Wicklow, W91 RTV0, by email to tinahely@wicklowcoco.ie or by the Consultation Hub Portal to be received by 5pm on Friday 7th November 2025.

Please note that comments, including names of those making comments, submitted to the Council regarding this process may form part of the report for recording and publication of the decision following the outcome of the consultation process. The report shall be circulated to the elected members. Accordingly, they may also appear in the public domain.
