Wicklow County Council is fully committed to compliance with the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) & the Data Protection Act 2018.  

Wicklow County Council needs to collect and use personal data for a variety of purposes about its staff, customers, elected members and other individuals who come in contact with the Council.  Purposes for processing data include the provision of services of the Housing department, including social housing, affordable housing, housing assistance payments, planning applications, library membership, register of electors, community grants, the recruitment of staff, compliance with statutory obligations etc,  

Data Protection legislation safeguards the rights of individuals in relation to the processing of personal data.  The GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018 confer rights on individuals as well as responsibilities on those persons processing personal data.  

The Council aims to ensure that all employees, elected members, customers, contractors, agents, consultants, suppliers, or partners of the Council who have access to any personal data held by or on behalf of the Council, are fully aware of and abide by their duties and responsibilities under the legislation.
