Wicklow County Council is in a state of readiness ahead of the orange warning coming into effect from 03:00 Thursday 05/02/2026 to 03:00 Friday 06/02/2026.

We have taken a number of preventative measures as outlined below.

  • All outdoor crews and contractors working to clear drains and gullies that have become blocked with flood debris. Jetting contractors deployed to identified locations.
  • Crews prepared and ready to respond to areas likely to be impacted by forecast high intensity rainfall
  • Stocks of sandbags have been replenished and available at depots across the county
  • Debris accumulated at bridge structures being cleared to remove blockages
  • Roads subject to flooding and structural damage have been closed to traffic. Work continues to assess the scale of damage caused to the road network
  • The N11/M11 is operated and maintained by the PPP operator and the maintenance contractor appointed by TII.
  • Wicklow County Council’s SWAT held a meeting this afternoon and are on standby to meet again tomorrow if required.
  • Members of the public are advised not to park overnight in areas that are prone to flooding, as a precautionary measure.
  • In relation to potential evacuations and requirement for Rest Centres to be mobilised, the Civil Defence are ready to respond if required.
  • Community Support Centres across the county are on standby and will be opened if deemed necessary. The Civil Defence will be on hand to provide assistance if the hubs have to be opened.
  • Social media messaging continues with updates across all platforms as relevant information and reports of impacts become available.

Further updates will be circulated tomorrow once the situation across the county has been assessed.
