We are a division of Wicklow County Council and are the single point of contact for all filming inquiries. From early site and crewing guidance to recces and logistical assistance, we can help at any step of the production.

Permission to film in County Wicklow

Screen Wicklow can assist you in making every aspect of your film, television or commercial photography a success.

The Screen Wicklow Office is a service to all productions planning to film in County Wicklow. We are dedicated to making your film, television or commercial photography shoot run as smoothly as possible when on location in the Garden of Ireland. We are a division of Wicklow County Council and the one stop shop for all filming enquiries. We can assist at all stages of production, from initial location and crew advice to recces and logistical support.

There is a formal permit system in place in County Wicklow:

1. County Wicklow – to request permission to film throughout the County (with the exception of Bray, Enniskerry & Kilmacanogue) please download the form, fill out the County Wicklow Application form and then email to screenwicklow@wicklowcoco.ie.

2. Bray Municipal District (Bray, Enniskerry & Kilmacanogue) - If you wish to film in the Bray Municipal District, please download the form, fill out the Bray Event Permit Application Form and email it to braymd@wicklowcoco.ie together with the required insurance details.

Your email will be circulated to the relevant personnel within Wicklow County Council for permission.

Other important information

Filming authorisation is contingent on you presenting a copy of your insurance policy, which should provide coverage of at least €6.5 million for public liability and €13 million for employers’ responsibility. You’ll need to expressly request that your broker indemnify Wicklow County Council.
