Baltinglass Town Team Formed Under Town Centre First Policy

A formation meeting for the Baltinglass Town Team was held on 25th June, 2025, at Baltinglass Courthouse. This meeting followed a series of information evenings aimed at engaging the local community and outlining the objectives of the national Town Centre First Policy.

The gathering brought together local residents, community groups, business owners and representatives from Wicklow County Council, all committed to supporting the regeneration and sustainable development of the Baltinglass town centre.

The Baltinglass Town Team will serve as a collaborative structure to identify and advance community-driven projects with support from the local authority under the Town Centre First framework.

Cathaoirleach of the Baltinglass Municipal District Cllr. Avril Cronin, attended the meeting and welcomed the development: “It was fantastic to see such strong community representation at the meeting and a real willingness to work together. Through the formation of the Town Team, we are placing the community at the heart of local development. It’s about recognising the knowledge, experience and ambition that already exists within the town, and building on it together.”

Leas-Cathaoirleach of the Baltinglass Municipal District Cllr. Jason Mulhall also praised the collaborative effort: “What we’re seeing here is genuine collaboration. The Town Team will be a vital force in helping Baltinglass thrive in a manner that reflects the values and needs of the people who live and work here. A Town Centre Health Check has already been completed for Baltinglass, providing important data and insights into the social, economic, and physical condition of the town centre. This evidence base will assist the Town Team in identifying and prioritizing potential future projects that align with local needs.
