Film History

Co. Wicklow has a rich history of filmmaking, as shown by our list of popular series and films made here.

Co. Wicklow has been a firm favourite with filmmakers for years and for that reason thousands of films have been filmed in our beautiful county.

Among these are films such as Braveheart, The Count of Monte Cristo, Haywire, Frank and King Arthur.

More recent productions include series five and six of Vikings, Into the Badlands, the RTÉ production Striking Out with Amy Huberman, The Rhythm Section with Blake Lively and Jude Law, and Dancing with the Stars, which is filmed at Ardmore Studios.
