Local Authorities set and collect rents, in accordance with Section 58 of the Housing Act 1966. The making or amending of such rent schemes is a matter for Local Authorities, within broad principles set out by the Department.
Wicklow County Council operated two Differential Rent Schemes in the County dated February 2014 - one in Bray Municipal District Area and one in the remainder of the County. The two Differential Rent Schemes will merge with effect from the 3rd October 2026.
In September 2025 Wicklow County Council commenced a rent review in the County. This Rent Review is completed, and the new Differential Rent Scheme will be applied from the 3rd October, 2026.
Letters dated the 15th September 2026 issued to all tenants that are subject to this Differential Rent Scheme informing them of the rent applied.
