Wicklow City Council intends on implementing a number of CCTV schemes which aim to deter, prevent, detect and prosecute cases of illegal dumping.
As part of this process Wicklow County Council is undertaking public consultation on the provision of CCTV cameras in public areas in County Wicklow.
Following complaints of illegal dumping at the following locations Wicklow County Council intends to install CCTV for the prevention of litter and illegal dumping:
Location 1 - Bring Banks at Abbey Street Car Park, Wicklow Town
Location 2 - Bring Banks at South Beach Car Park, Mill Road, Greystones
Location 3 – At a position along the L-5040-0 road (orse Drummin Road) in the townland of Woodlands, Delgany
Location 4 – Lane at the back of Abbey Terrace, in the townland of Abbeylands, Arklow
The CCTV cameras are for the sole and primary purpose of preventing litter and illegal dumping and enforcement of the Litter Pollution Act 1997, as amended, and the Waste Management Act 1996, as amended. This initiative will adhere to the Codes of Practice for the Operation of CCTV for the Purposes of Prevention, Detection and Prosecution of Litter and Waste Offences.

Submissions or observations with respect to the proposed installation and use of CCTV cameras at the above locations can be made in following formats:
- In writing to the Environment Department, Wicklow County Council, County Buildings, Wicklow Town to be marked “CCTV Consultation”.
