Bray Municipal District was proud to host a special Cathaoirleach’s Civic Reception in honour of Square One Theatre Group, celebrating an extraordinary milestone — 50 years of theatrical performance and cultural contribution in Bray.

The reception recognised Square One Theatre Group’s longstanding commitment to the arts and its significant role in enriching the cultural life of the town since its establishment. Over five decades, the group has provided audiences with high-quality productions while fostering local talent, creativity, and community participation in the performing arts.

Cathaoirleach of Bray Municipal District, Cllr. Erika Doyle, welcomed members past and present to the event, acknowledging the organisation’s lasting impact on the community, commenting, "Square One Theatre Group has been at the heart of Bray’s cultural scene for fifty years. Their dedication, creativity and volunteer spirit have brought enjoyment to generations of audiences and provided a valuable platform for local performers. It is a privilege to recognise their remarkable contribution to community life in Bray.”

Bray District Manager Jackie Carroll also paid tribute to the group’s sustained commitment and community engagement, saying, "Reaching a 50-year anniversary is a significant achievement for any voluntary organization. Square One Theatre Group has played an important role in strengthening Bray’s cultural identity and supporting the arts locally. Wicklow County Council is delighted to acknowledge the group’s continued success and wishes them many more years of performance and creativity."
