The Cathaoirleach, Cllr. Dr. Caroline Winstanley together with Elected Members of Wicklow County Council held a Civic Ceremony on Monday 17th August in Wicklow County Campus Clermont to honour and celebrate Wicklow’s success in the Tailteann Cup 2026.
The event brought together members of Wicklow senior team players, management and backroom team, who were recognised for their dedication, commitment and achievements. The event was also attended by team sponsors, families and friends of the team along with distinguished guests and staff from Wicklow County Council.
The Civic ceremony provided an opportunity for Wicklow County Council and the wider community to acknowledge the significant achievements of the team and to celebrate alongside them. Their win has brought great excitement and a strong sense of pride to the communities across the county, providing supporters with an opportunity to come together and celebrate the achievements of the team.
Cathaoirleach of Wicklow County Council Cllr. Dr. Caroline Winstanley congratulated the team and stated “County teams are built in local clubs, and this success will inspire young players across Wicklow to see what is possible – to represent their county, play in Croke Park and perhaps one day lift a national trophy themselves.”
Chief Executive of Wicklow County Council Emer O’Gorman added “On behalf of Wicklow County Council, I extend the warmest congratulations to the Wicklow senior football team, to manager Oisín McConville, the entire management and backroom team, and everyone associated with Wicklow GAA, on winning the 2026 Tailteann Cup.
