Greystones Community Celebrated at Municipal District People of the Year Awards 2026
The 2026 Greystones Municipal District People of the Year Awards were presented at a Gala Dinner held in Greystones Golf Club yesterday evening. The awards are held annually to honour people for their achievements and their contribution to the community.
Awards were presented in the following categories:
- Sports Award – Lucianne Hughes
- Joint Civic Award – Declan Greene and Philip McGaley
- Special Award – Alice O’Donnell
- Cultural Award – La Touche Legacy Committee
- Commercial Award – Susan Collins Home of Hair
- Youth Recognition Award – Greystones Trilateral Student Group
- Special Recognition Award – John McGowan.
The Gala Dinner was attended by the Cathaoirleach of Wicklow County Council, Cllr. Dr. Caroline Winstanley and Cathaoirleach of Greystones Municipal District Cllr. Lourda Scott alongside Greystones Elected Members Councillors Mark Barry, Louise Fenelon Gaskin, Tom Fortune and Stephen Stokes. Tánaiste and Minister for Finance, Deputy Simon Harris TD and Deputy Jennifer Whitmore were also in attendance.
Cathaoirleach of Wicklow County Council, Cllr. Dr. Caroline Winstanley welcomed everyone to the presentation and said: “It is a pleasure to participate in this awards ceremony. I would like to congratulate all who have received awards this evening. We thank them for their efforts and the wonderful contributions they have made within their community”.
Cllr. Lourda Scott, Cathaoirleach of Greystones Municipal District said, “This event is a wonderful opportunity to honour those in our community that put themselves forward to help their communities”.
Tánaiste Simon Harris said: “It is a huge honour to be here tonight to celebrate with the award winners and their family and friends”.
