Success for the East Coast Offshore Renewable Energy Event: Aligning Skills, Policy and Supply Chain

A highly successful collaborative event, driven by Wicklow County Council and the East Coast Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE) Network, took place on Tuesday, November 18th at the Arklow Bay Hotel.

The event drew significant engagement, generating positive momentum for the future of the East Coast's offshore energy sector. Key participants, including senior representatives from major energy companies, government agencies, and educational institutions, engaged in meaningful discussions and networking. Their attendance and contribution emphasised the shared commitment to realising the transformative potential of ORE on the East Coast. Attendees gained practical, actionable insights from an impressive line-up of speakers, ensuring they are well-positioned to seize opportunities and fill existing gaps in the sector.

Wicklow County Council extends its sincere thanks and recognition to all who attended the Offshore Renewable Energy Event 2025. The active participation, insightful questions, and commitment to collaboration were instrumental in making the event such a productive and dynamic platform.

A special acknowledgement must be given to the tireless work and dedication of the East Coast Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE) Network. Their vision and partnership were crucial in planning, promoting, and delivering an event that truly addressed the needs of the emerging sector. The Network's efforts are foundational to ensuring the East Coast communities, businesses, and educators are fully equipped to support this vital green industry and advance economic, climate, and sustainability goals.

Cllr. Melanie Corrigan, Cathaoirleach of Wicklow County Council remarked, "The level of energy and engagement demonstrated at the ORE Event 2025 was exceptional. Seeing so many key stakeholders, from local businesses to major developers, actively planning for the green transition confirms that we are on the right path. This event has forged a clear, tangible pathway for our communities, strengthening relationships and access to the diverse range of opportunities the ORE industry will deliver for Wicklow, from job creation to local investment."

Emer O'Gorman, Chief Executive of Wicklow County Council, remarked, The ORE Event 2025 has moved us firmly into the realm of strategic delivery. Wicklow County Council is focused on translating national ORE ambition into actionable regional benefits. By convening the East Coast Network and our local partners, we are actively building the capacity needed to underpin key developments and secure the East Coast's position as a critical partner in Ireland’s green energy future.”

Helena Dennehy, Director of Services of Wicklow County Council, added, "The success of this year’s event demonstrates a clear and growing enthusiasm for collaboration, training, and innovation across the supply chain. We are proud to partner with the East Coast Offshore Network, whose commitment ensures that the momentum generated today will translate into real, sustainable growth for the entire East Coast region."
