The new Mini Driving School at Seaview Avenue was officially opened by Cathaoirleach of Arklow Municipal District Cllr. Miriam Murphy, marking an exciting addition to the local community.
The project was fully funded and delivered by the Arklow Municipal District, demonstrating their commitment to supporting projects that are fun, innovative and educational while also promoting road safety awareness among young children.
The Mini Driving School offers children a practical and engaging environment to learn the rules of the road, develop safe cycling and pedestrian habits and gain a deeper understanding of road safety from an early age.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Cathaoirleach Cllr. Miriam Murphy welcomed the new addition to the area and highlighted the importance of providing safe and enjoyable learning opportunities for children. She also thanked the children from Kangacare and their teachers who attended the event on their bikes and scooters, noting that they "fully demonstrated their cycling and scooting skills and brought great energy and excitement and fun to the occasion."
Chief Executive of Wicklow County Council, Emer O'Gorman, thanked everyone involved in the project, describing it as "a fantastic amenity for the community" and commending all those who contributed to its successful delivery.
Leonora Earls, District Manager for Arklow Municipal District, thanked the elected members of Arklow Municipal District for their continued support of the project. She also welcomed Therese Kelly from An Garda Síochána and members of Arklow Fire Brigade, appreciation their attendance and ongoing support of community-based road safety initiatives.
The opening ceremony was attended by local representatives, community stakeholders and children from the town, all of whom welcomed the new facility as a valuable resource that will help promote road safety education in an enjoyable and interactive manner for years to come.
