St. Patrick's Day - Temporary Road Closures

Arklow

Road to be closed

From the exist at the roundabout on the R772 at Yellow Lane. Liam Mellows Avenue / The Navy Hill / Connelly Street / Abbey Street / Back Street / Lower Main Street / Main Street ending at the junction of St. Mary's Road Avenue. 

Period of Closure 

Tuesday 17th March 2026 from 13:30pm to 15:00pm

Alternative Routes 

Access from Collins Street, Connolly Street, Griffin Street via St Mary’s Road to Upper Main Street.

Access from Abbeyville, Abbey Heights, Abbey park, Churchview, Rory O’Connor Place via harbour Court, turning left at Tinahask Lower, turning right to South Green towards South Quay, turn left towards R772, turning right onto the Bridge.

Traffic accessing south of the town should exit at Junction 21 (South) M11.

Traffic Management will be in place for the duration of the parade.

Reason for Closure

This closure is necessary to facilitate Arklow St. Patrick's Day Parade 2026.

 

Aughrim 

Road to be closed

From the Junction of R753 and R747 (Aughrim Bridge)

Glen Road, Chapel Lane and Rednagh Road, Aughrim.

Period of Closure

Tuesday 17th March 2026 from 10:45am to 12:00pm

Alternative Routes

R747 - Divert at Annacurra to Rednagh Road

R753 - Divert to R747 at Cronebeg

Traffic Management will be in place.

Reason for Closure

This closure is necessary to facilitate Aughrim St Patrick’s Day Parade 2026.

 

Baltinglass

Roads to be closed

R747 from Deerpark view to the N81, Centra, on Edward Street.

Period of closure

Tuesday 17th March 2026 from 12:15pm to 13:45pm

Alternative Routes

Traffic towards Dublin – Via Shruhaun

Traffic towards Carlow/Tullow - Via Red wells following the Rathvilly road.

Traffic Management will be in place.

Reason for Closure

This closure is necessary to facilitate the Baltinglass St Patrick’s Day Parade 2026.

 

Blessington

Road to be closed

Closure of N81 eastbound at “Strudy” Pipe sculpture.

Closure of N81 westbound at N81/Oak Drive.

Period of closure

Tuesday 17th March 2026 from 12:00pm to 13:00pm

Alternative Routes

N81 Eastbound

via Old Ballymore Road, R410 Naas Road, Blessington Inner relief Road, Blessington Business Park, Oak Road.

N81 Westbound

 via Oak Drive, Blessington Park, Blessington Inner relief Road, R410 Naas Road Old Ballymore Road. 

Traffic Management will be in place for the duration of the parade.

Reason for Closure

This closure is necessary to facilitate Blessington St Patrick’s Day Parade 2026

 

Bray

Road to be closed

Vevay Rd - north of Church Road.

Killarney Road - north of Church Road.

Main Street - Town Hall to Quinsboro Road.

Seapoint Road - east of Seymour Road.

Quinsboro Road, Eglington Road, Seymour Road, Strand Road.

Period of closure

Tuesday 17th March 2026 from 13:00pm to 15:00pm

Alternative Routes

Alternative route for traffic accessing east Bray will be via Putland Road and Sidmonton Road or Meath Road.  North South traffic through Bray will be diverted to the N11.  Access will be available to the Herbert Road carpark from the south and the Ravenswell carpark from the north.

Traffic Management will be in place for the duration of the parade.

Reason for Closure

This closure is necessary to facilitate Bray St Patrick’s Day Parade

 

Carnew

Road to be closed

Section of the R725 – From the intersection with L3230 to intersection with R748.

Period of closure

Tuesday 17th March 2026 from 11:30am to 13:30pm
