Wicklow County Council, in conjunction with An Taisce and the National Transport Authority, is proposing to improve road safety adjacent to schools in the county that have been selected as part of the NTA Safe Routes to School (SRTS) Programme. The purpose of the scheme is to make the areas immediately adjacent to the schools safer, highlight the school and reduce speeds.
The proposed scheme will consist of traffic calming measures on sections of Rockfield Park and the R755 including footpath renewal, junction tightening, additional and upgraded crossing points, bollards to restrict illegal parking, colour surface contrasting, all to highlight the presence of the school and create a safer environment. The traffic calming works proposed are part of the Safe Routes to School programme, developed in partnership with the NTA and Green Schools in 2021, following the application by the school.
Supported by the school board of management, these designs for Safe Routes to School have been developed based on best practice and guidance which addresses safety issues raised by the schools.
Drawings are available for inspection below and on display in the Bray Municipal District Office, Civic Offices, Main Street, Bray, Co. Wicklow A98 A9X9 between Wednesday 24th June 2026 to Wednesday 8th July 2026.
