Greystones Municipal District and local businesses in the town come together each Christmas to support the installation of Christmas lights and the festivities around Santa’s arrival.
The lighting event is usually held in Burnaby Park on the last Saturday in November with an afternoon of family entertainment.
Local clergy relate the true spirit of Christmas in a short ecumenical service and the lights are switched on by the Cathaoirleach of Greystones Municipal District and a representative from Greystones 2020.
In 2019 the lights were switched on on Saturday 23rd November in Burnaby Park. The event included carol singing by the choir from Colaiste Chraobh Abhann in Kilcoole, a performance by the Greystones Players and the Holyhead Male Voice Choir together with a short ecumenical service.
There are over 1km of icicle lights throughout the town and two 30-foot-tall Christmas trees, each adorned with three thousand lights: one at the train station and one at the Harbour Marina.
Santa arrived to meet and greet all the children.
