Celebrating 25 Years of Greystones Library Book Club

Last week, our wonderful book club members gathered for a special morning marking 25 years of shared stories, lively discussion, and lasting friendships.

Joined by Librarian, David Forde, Senior Library Assistant, Treasa Houlihan, Senior Executive Librarian, Geraldine Colgan, and retired Librarian, Gillian Misstear, members reflected on what the club has meant to them, the books that have inspired them, and the journeys—real and imagined—that reading has sparked. We also fondly remembered past members Joan O’Dea (RIP) and Joan Quinn (RIP), who will always be a part of our story.

The morning was filled with chats, recorded interviews, tea, biscuits, and the beautiful sea views from our upstairs reading room — the perfect backdrop for reminiscing. With at least 25 years behind us, we’re wondering… Is this Ireland’s longest-running public library book club? If your library can match or beat this record, we’d love to hear from you! Thank you to all who have been part of this incredible journey. Here’s to many more chapters together.
