Wicklow County Arts Office has partnered with VAI (Visual Artists Ireland)

Wicklow County Arts Office has partnered with VAI (Visual Artists Ireland) to offer a range of webinars, clinics and workshops, each exploring a specific topic and aimed at visual artists throughout Co. Wicklow. Beginning in early December, these events will all take place online and bookings are essential through

The first of these workshops will take place on Tuesday, 1st December from 11am – 12pm and will focus on the topic of “Digital Marketing without Social Media”. Led by communications specialist Emma Dwyer, this webinar will focus on ways in which visual artists can communicate with their audiences and customers without using social media.

Following on from the webinar, Emma Dwyer will be offering a limited number of 20-minute One-to-One Clinics” for Wicklow-based artists. This is a unique opportunity to get practical advice specific to your situation and also to learn how best to communicate about your work and market your practice.

The following week, on Wednesday 9th December, there will be an online Panel Discussion exploring the topic “Adapting to a Changing Landscape” with Seán Kissane (Curator of Exhibitions at the Irish Museum of Modern Art, Dublin), Sarah Perks (Professor of MIMA School of Art & Design, Middlesbrough, UK) and Chris Clarke (Senior Curator at The Glucksman, University of Cork, Ireland.)

In this event, the panel will discuss how their individual working practices have been affected by the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, how their working relationships with artists have changed, and they will also consider some of the things that artists can do to adapt to this shifting landscape.

Rob Hilken (VAI’s Northern Ireland Manager) comments “Visual Artists Ireland are delighted to be partnering with Wicklow County Arts Office on a new programme of events beginning in 2020 and continuing into early 2021. Like all professions, visual artists have been severely affected by the impact of COVID-19 and this programme aims to support artists in adapting to the changing landscape of the sector. The programme will focus on the changing working practices of artists and galleries, the accelerating shift towards online platforms, and developing new ways to engage with audiences.”

“Digital Marketing without Social Media” and “Adapting to a Changing Landscape” are both priced at €10 for non VAI Members, but with the support of the Wicklow County Arts Office, they are FREE for Wicklow-based artists. The One-to-One clinics are also FREE to attend, but numbers are strictly limited, so book yours today! Bookings for all events are through
