Thomas Byrne of Ballinapark

This collection relates to the business of Thomas Byrne (1869-1942) who operated a blacksmiths and shop at Jack Whites Cross, Ballinapark, Brittas Bay.  Thomas Byrne was born in 1869, one of five children born to Owen and Catherine Byrne nee Farrell. Thomas married Mary Cullen in 1911 and they had children Owen born 1911, Kathleen born 1913, Robert born 1914, Maria 1915. The Byrnes operated a forge and shop at Jack White’s Cross. The buildings were demolished in the 1970s to facilitate the widening of the N11. 

This small collection consists of five ledgers dated 1880-1943 and a file of invoices and correspondences. The collection provides details on the day to day running of the business through the ledgers and correspondence of the family business.
