The members of the Bray to Greystones Cliff Walk Management Committee, along with District Members from Bray and Greystones, met with RPS consultants on Monday, 22nd September 2025, to discuss a report regarding the Bray to Greystones Cliff Walk. This path has been closed since a rockfall in 2021 that partially obstructed the walkway.
Wicklow County Council appointed RPS to provide engineering consultancy services for the walk. The report evaluates potential hazards associated with the stability of the slopes surrounding the walkway and offers remediation options where necessary.
Chairperson of the Bray and Greystones Cliff Walk Management Committee Cllr. Erika Doyle, has advised that the report and the identified remedial options are currently under review to determine the next steps.
The committee recognises the importance of advancing this project for the benefit of the community and is committed to working with Wicklow County Council to achieve a positive outcome.
In the meantime, the walk remains closed due to safety concerns over the instability of the area, which represents a significant safety risk to the public. Wicklow County Council would like to remind the public that there is a designated cliff walk diversion route in place.
Chief Executive of Wicklow County Council, Emer O’Gorman, noted, “The report prepared by RPS Consultants outlines various options and actions needed to safely reopen a route to the public. This will involve securing funding to complete the necessary work, after which a pathway will be developed when deemed safe to do so”.
