Wicklow County Council is committed to, and supports the NBP and the build-out of all essential telecommunications infrastructure.
In Co. Wicklow, State intervention is required for approximately 16,000 premises (23% of total premises). NBI have passed over 14,000 premises with Fibre to the Home (FttH). The outstanding Deployment Area of Coolkenno is expected to be completed in Oct-Dec 2026.

In parallel with this rollout by NBI

The take-up by FttH platform is as follows:

Network FTTP Active Subscriber Lines, Q1 2026

Wicklow’s Broadband Development Officer has two major areas for action:

  1. To facilitate the successful roll-out of the National Broadband Plan in their respective Counties by acting as a single point of contact for the successful NBP contractor(s) and telecommunications companies generally.
  2. To develop and implement a Digital Strategy to encourage take-up of high-speed connectivity amongst all sectors of the population, including the creation of awareness of and the stimulation of demand for broadband services.
