Bray to Greystones Cliff Walk Update

Statement from Wicklow County Council

Friday, 3rd July 2026

The latest updates from Tetra tech as to ongoing progress on Bray to Greystones Cliff Walk are outlined below.

Progress continues on both the northern (Bray) and southern (Greystones) sections of the project, with ecological surveys and preparatory works advancing throughout May and June.

For the Bray section, rope access proposals and a tendering draft were issued to the National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) and Iarnród Éireann for comment, with consultation ongoing.

On the Greystones section, ecological surveys and site walkovers are continuing, with landowner access secured to facilitate these works.

The project team will continue with ecological surveys, with discussions ongoing regarding potential inland route options.

Chairperson of the Committee, Cllr. Erika Doyle welcomed the progress to date and reiterated that the Committee is united in its aim of working with Wicklow County Council towards safely reopening the Cliff Walk.

Wicklow County Council remains committed to progressing with the project in a diligent, safe and environmentally sound manner and in the shortest possible timeframe.

The Cliff Walk remains closed due to the significant safety concerns.  An alternative route is available.
