The Blessington Local Area Plan 2025-2031 was adopted on the 16 June 2025.

The Local Area Plan comes into effect on 28 July 2025.

The final Local Area Plan documents are being prepared for publication, following the adoption of the plan, and will be available when the plan comes into effect. Ahead of the final documents, an interim decision document is presented below, setting out the amendments to the draft plan as adopted, alongside an interim land use zoning map encompassing the zoning amendments to the draft plan. The draft written statement is also presented below for reference.

Variation No. 3 to the County Development Plan 2022-2028 integrated the land use zoning map and key development objectives from the Local Area Plan into the County Development Plan.
