Wicklow County Council invites applications for the Built Heritage Investment Scheme (BHIS) 2027 and the Historic Structures Fund (HSF) 2027, operated by the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage.
BUILT HERITAGE INVESTMENT SCHEME (BHIS) 2027
The BHIS supports small-scale, labour-intensive repair and conservation works to Protected Structures, buildings within Architectural Conservation Areas (ACAs), vernacular buildings, including thatch, and historic shopfronts.
Eligible works focus on the retention, repair and conservation of historic fabric. Grants range from €2,500 to €50,000, with applicants required to contribute a minimum of 20% of total project costs. Smaller maintenance grants under €2,000 may also be considered. A method statement and photographs must accompany all applications. Grants are paid retrospectively following satisfactory completion of works.
Closing date for BHIS applications: 4.00pm, 30 October 2026.
HISTORIC STRUCTURES FUND (HSF) 2027
The HSF supports larger-scale conservation projects that address urgent repairs, enhance the longevity of historic structures and deliver public benefit. Eligible structures include Protected Structures, buildings of special architectural, historical, archaeological, artistic or technical interest, historic buildings in public or community use, and vernacular structures.
Grant levels are between €15,000 and €200,000 depending on project scale and eligibility, with applicants required to contribute a minimum of 50% of total project costs. Applications must include a detailed method statement, photographs and evidence of public or community benefit. Grants are paid retrospectively following satisfactory completion of works.
Closing date for HSF applications: 4.00pm, 27 November 2026.
