N81 Hollywood Rural Traffic Calming and Bus Stop

In accordance with the provisions of PART XI, of the Planning & Development Act 2000 (as amended) and Part 8 of the Planning and Development Regulations 2001 (as amended), notice is hereby given that:

Wicklow County Council proposes to undertake the development of the N81 Hollywood Rural Traffic Calming and Bus Stops. The proposed development will provide formal bus stop facilities to serve the village of Hollywood, Co. Wicklow and will also provide traffic calming scheme at Hollywood Cross to reduce vehicle speeds and create a safer environment for vulnerable road users wishing to cross the N81 at this location. The works will include pavement renewal, drainage works, public lighting, new pedestrian crossings, bus stop including bus shelters, new gateway treatment plus signage and all other associated ancillary works.

In accordance with Article 120 (1) (b) (i) of the Planning and Development Regulations 2001 (as amended), Wicklow County Council have concluded following the completion of an Environmental Impact Assessment Screening Report that there is no real likelihood of significant effects on the environment arising from the proposed development and that an Environmental Impact Assessment is not required.

Where any person considers that the proposed development would be likely to have significant effects on the environment, they may, at any time before the expiration of 4 weeks beginning on the date of publication of this notice, apply in accordance with the provisions of Article 120 (3) of the Planning and Development Regulations 2001 (as amended), to An Bord Pleanála for a screening determination as to whether the development would be likely to have such effects.

In accordance with the provisions of Article 250 (1) of the Planning and Development Regulations 2001 (as amended), Wicklow County Council has carried out a screening of the proposed development to assess, in view of best scientific knowledge, if the development, individually or in combination with other plans or projects, would be likely to have a significant effect on a European site. Accordingly, Wicklow County Council has determined that the proposed development would not be likely to have a significant effect on any European site and that therefore, an Appropriate Assessment of the proposed development is not required.

Plans and particulars of the proposed development can be inspected or purchased at a fee not exceeding the reasonable cost of making a copy, at the offices of Wicklow County Council, Station Road, Whitegates, Wicklow Town during opening hours from 9:00 am to 3.30 pm Monday to Friday and  also at Baltinglass Municipal District, Civic Offices Blessington Business Park, Blessington, Co. Wicklow during opening hours from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday to Friday, excluding Bank Holidays, for a period between Thursday 28th March 2024 to Tuesday 30th April 2024. Plans and particulars will also be available to view on the Council’s Online Consultation Hub at www.wicklow.ie/Living/ConsultationHub 

Submissions or observations with respect to the proposed development, dealing with the proper planning and sustainable development of the area in which the development would be situated, may be made in writing to the Senior Executive Officer, Transportation, Infrastructure Delivery & Emergency Services, Wicklow County Council, County Buildings, Station Road, Whitegates, Wicklow Town on or before noon Tuesday 14th May 2024. All submissions should be marked “N81 Hollywood Rural Traffic Calming and Bus Stops – Part 8 Statutory Consultation”.
