Climate Change with changes to rainfall patterns and intensity poses challenges in protecting our water resources, maintaining good water quality and supporting aquatic  and riparian biodiversity. Good catchment management incorporating nature based solutions can help to reduce flood risk while protecting our waters.

LAWPRO, Local Authorities Water Programme, is a shared local authority service working to achieve good water status for all water bodies under the River Basin Management Plan. For further information on LAWPRO visit their website here  . The Water and Communities Office of LAWPRO employs Water and Community Officers who work with communities and stakeholders.  Donal O Keefe, Waters and Communities Officer for Wicklow can be contacted here  . Further information on water quality, access to data and case studies on catchment management is available from the EPA website here
