Gardening for wildlife in the Garden County

New publication now available

Making space for nature in your Garden is not only good for the planet but is good for our health too! A new publication from the Heritage Office of Wicklow County Council invites us all make our gardens more wildlife friendly. ‘Garden Wildlife of Wicklow’ has lots of tips for suitable plants to encourage birds and pollinating insects, and folds out to a full colour poster to help us identify some of our more common visitors.

As part of Wicklow County Council’s Keeping Well campaign  we are encouraging everyone to spend time outdoors and to  connect with nature.  Inviting nature into our gardens is a great way to do this. No matter how big or small your garden is, whether it is  a balcony or a large green space, inviting wildlife to share it is good for biodiversity and is good for us.  This fold out poster is designed to complement the ‘Gardening for Biodiversity’ Booklet produced by the Local Authority  Heritage Officer Network in 2020  available to download by clicking  here.  The Garden Wildlife of Wicklow may be downloaded as a pdf below or hard copies can be posted free of charge courtesy of Wicklow County Council. This project is one of the biodiversity actions of the County Wicklow Heritage Plan and is co-funded by the Heritage Council and Wicklow County Council.  E mail wicklowheritage@wicklowcoco.ieto request your free copy.
