Open Call Announced for Group Exhibition at Baltinglass Abbey

Wicklow County Council and Creative Places Baltinglass, in collaboration with The Hub Collective, are pleased to announce an open call for a forthcoming group exhibition at Baltinglass Library. Titled Baltinglass and Beyond — My Sense of Place, the exhibition invites artists living in West Wicklow to submit existing work that reflects their personal response to place.

The exhibition will explore themes of landscape, community, memory, identity, and local heritage, with a particular focus on Baltinglass and its surrounding areas. Artists are encouraged to interpret the theme broadly, engaging with ideas such as rural life, architecture, folklore, and personal connections to place, while contributing to a diverse and vibrant collective exhibition.

This open call is available to both emerging and established artists aged 18 and over who are currently residing in West Wicklow. Submissions are limited to wall-based works, including painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, and mixed media. The deadline for applications is Friday 29th May at 2pm, and all materials must be submitted online via the Submittable platform.

The exhibition will run from late June to September at Baltinglass Library. Queries regarding applications must be submitted to creativeplacebaltinglass@gmail.com by Monday 25th May at 2pm.

Artists are invited to submit existing work that captures their unique perspective on place and contributes to a vibrant and engaging exhibition celebrating Baltinglass and beyond.
