Wicklow County Council To Hold Big Screen Event for Taylor V Pili Fight in Bray

Excitement builds in Bray as Katie Taylor's hometown prepares for special big screen fight night.

Wicklow County Council is delighted to announce that Bray will host a special big screen event on Bray Seafront on Saturday, 5th September. This event will allow the community to come together to support their hometown sporting hero Katie Taylor, as she steps into the ring for her farewell fight against Flor Pili.

As Katie Taylor's home town, Bray has long taken immense pride in her achievements, and anticipation is building across the community as fight night approaches.

The big screen event is expected to attract significant crowds to the Seafront, creating a memorable atmosphere where the community can unite to celebrate and support Katie. 1,500 free tickets are available for the event and must be reserved via Event Bright.

 

An Cathaoirleach of Wicklow County Council, Cllr. Dr. Caroline Winstanley, said: "Katie Taylor has inspired generations through her dedication, determination and extraordinary success on the world stage. As her home town, Bray shares a special connection with Katie and we are proud to host this big screen event so that residents, visitors and supporters can come together to celebrate and support her. This promises to be a fantastic community occasion and a memorable night for Bray."

Cathaoirleach of Bray Municipal District, Councillor Malachai Duddy added "There is tremendous excitement building throughout Bray ahead of fight night. Hosting a big screen event in Katie's home town is a fantastic opportunity for the community to celebrate a local sporting icon. Events like this bring a real sense of pride and positivity to the town and we are looking forward to creating an unforgettable occasion for everyone attending."

 Key Event Details

  • Date & Time: Saturday, September 5th, 2026 | Fan Zone opens at 7pm, with the main event expected to take place at around 10pm Irish time, depending on how long the undercard fights last.
  • Location: Seafront Bandstand, Strand Road, Bray, County Wicklow

  • Transport: Parking along Strand and town centre is strictly limited. Event organisers strongly encourage all attendees to travel via Bray Train Station, local bus routes (L14, 145, 184, 155), or active travel.
